Actuarial Preparation

Preparing for the Actuarial Exams (SOA Exam P in Probability and SOA Exam FM in Financial Mathematics)

In order to prepare to be an actuary, it is important that you begin planning early!  Employers will expect that you will have already passed the first two actuarial courses upon graduation.  Come in to my office to chat about the possibilities as early as possible in your career at Monmouth College, and we will chart out courses for you to take.  Most important for Exam P is that you take MATH 339 (Probability) on time.

In Spring 2018, I taught a topics course dedicated to preparing students to take Exam P, and in Fall 2018, I directed an independent study for a student preparing to take Exam FM.  I hope to eventually be preparing students to take these two exams in alternating years (ie. P one year, FM the next year, and so on), so come talk to me so we can factor this rotation into your course schedule choices.
